Requiem is the soundtrack album to BBC series Requiem, performed by Dominik Scherrer and Natasha Khan. It was released digitally on 9 February 2018 via Dubois Music.[1]
Khan is credited on 10 out of the 16 tracks on the soundtrack.
Background[]
On 18 May 2017, Khan shared a Instagram clip of her working on a "secret soundtrack work", where the track "Xai" was previewed.[2]
Scherrer discussed his collaboration with Khan:
“Just as the production started principal photography, Natasha Khan and I spent some weeks in my studio in Brick Lane, coming up with themes and recording outlandish vocals and terrifying sounds. We were guided by occasional Skype calls from the brilliant director Mahalia Belo who was on set in Wales. The score evolved simultaneously with the shoot and the edit. It was exciting how one element inspired the other. There is a cheeky element to the show, as well as a genuinely scary one.”[3]
Award[]
Khan and Scherrer won an Ivor Novello award for Best Television Soundtrack for scoring Requiem in May 2019.[4] This was Khan’s second Ivor Novello Award, having previously picked up Best Contemporary Song in 2010 for Bat for Lashes’ "Daniel"; it was also Scherrer’s second win for Best Television Soundtrack.
