Background[]

Music and composition[]

Within The Bride's story, this song is the moment where she is in the church waiting for her fiancé, but she feels a premonition that something bad happened.[1] The album's novella describes this moment where she is standing at the church's altar feeling the "press of time" because her fiancé is not showing up for the wedding. Suddenly the news break that he died, implied by the sound of sirens and a commotion outside the church.

Lyrics[]

In God's house I do wait
For my love on our wedding day
Dewy eyes and lashes long for my love
But I'm feeling something's wrong

What's this I see?
My baby's hands on the wheel
What's this I see?
Fire
Fire

Through this veil they can't see
The fog of death envelop me
Where's my boy? Why would he lie?
And leave me here in this church to cry?

What's this I see?
My baby dying on the beach
What's this I see?
Fire
Fire
Fire
Fire
